Makinde visits LAUTECH, commits to peaceful resolution of crisis

Makinde in LAUTECH, preaches brotherliness. promises release of N500M

Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde, yesterday admonished indigenes of Oyo and Osun states working at the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, to eschew bitterness and violence and live like brothers and sisters that they truly are.

He was at the Institution’s Main campus for on the spot assessment of situation that has led to its incessant closure and held meeting with stakeholders who were allowed to make representations to government.

While stressing that efforts were on between the two owners of the University, he said the people of Oyo and Osun have a rich history of blood relationship that cannot be wished away.

He said his government had no plan to sack any staff of the University irrespective of their State of origin because Oyo will remain home to everybody who is willing to go about their duties and live lawfully.

The Governor explained that the issue of ownership of LAUTECH would be determined based on meetings, negotiations and agreement, rather than by lawlessness and violence.

Promising that Oyo will continue to serve it’s people with the best at all times, Makinde explained that he was committed to ensuring that students of the Institution graduate as at when due.

He said his government was ready to release the sum of five hundred million naira as soon as Management of the University fulfilled certain condition
